Abule Egba Residents Demand More Security Amid Robbery

Residents of Abule Egba, Lagos, have raised significant security concerns regarding the increasing number of lounges, bars, and nightclubs in the area, particularly during weekends. This follows the arrest of a suspected robber linked to a robbery at Ghost and Spirit Lounge, where a patron was robbed of a gold wrist chain and rings.

Residents like Kemi Olowo expressed discomfort using certain routes early on weekends due to the presence of club patrons and potential criminal elements. Tunde noted incidents of car snatching in the vicinity, urging security agencies to enhance their focus on nightlife areas.

Specific locations identified for increased security attention include Social Club, Santos Road, Charity Road, Agbe Road, and Ekoro Road. In response, the Lagos State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani, announced intensified intelligence-led operations and patrols across the state, reporting the recovery of 10 firearms, 35 rounds of ammunition, N2.5 million cash, and other items in recent operations.
