Lagos Seals Fake Real Estate Office in Ikorodu

The Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority has sealed an office suspected of operating under false pretenses in the Ikorodu area. This operation, conducted on a Wednesday, was part of a broader initiative to clamp down on unlicensed real estate agents in the state.

The agency, in collaboration with the state task force, acted on credible intelligence regarding individuals impersonating licensed real estate agents and using fake registration numbers to defraud unsuspecting members of the public, particularly those seeking accommodation. Barakat Odunuga Bakar, a special advisor to the governor, emphasized that this crackdown aims to sanitize the real estate sector and protect residents from fraudulent practices.

She warned that individuals engaging in unlicensed real estate activities would face strict enforcement actions. Deji Badejo, the Director of Compliance and Enforcement at the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority, stated that the action was taken in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State Real Estate Law of 2022, pending further investigations.
