On February 25, 2026, the Lagos State government sealed off a public toilet located at Mazamaza Bus Stop in the Amuwo Odofin area. This action was taken due to the toilet's deliberate discharge of raw sewage wastewater into the public drainage system via pumping machines.

The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this information through an official account on Wednesday. The discharge was identified as a public nuisance and a significant threat to public health and environmental sustainability.

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) emphasized the importance of proper wastewater management and hygienic practices to promote public health and environmental sustainability. Residents were encouraged to adopt these practices, with a warning that any acts contributing to environmental nuisance would attract appropriate sanctions and prosecution.
