Lagos State Ministry of Health Sets 2026 Health Targets Under SWAP to Enhance Service Delivery

The Lagos State Ministry of Health has initiated its annual operational plan workshop to collaborate with government agencies, civil society partners, and international organizations like the International Society for Media in Public Health (ISMPH) to develop a unified 2026 health sector plan under the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP). Dr.

Oluwadu Sijimakunga, the Head of Planning and Director of Healthcare Planning Research and Statistics, emphasized the importance of aligning stakeholders behind a single health strategy to address the state's pressing priorities, such as improving maternal and child health and ensuring access to quality healthcare. The workshop, which includes representatives from various health sector ministries, departments, agencies, and development partners like UNFPA, UNICEF, Gates Foundation, Clinton Health Initiative, and CIHP, aims to fill funding gaps and prioritize critical interventions.

The annual operational plan will guide activities and programs worth millions to enhance service delivery and achieve health targets by 2026.
