Lagos Hosts Successful Dolphin Swimming League Event

The Dolphin Swimming League hosted a long course swimming event at the Mobolaji Johnson Sport Complex in Lagos, featuring schools and clubs from across the state. The competition included various swimming disciplines such as freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly, with distances ranging from 50m sprints for younger swimmers to 200m events for older athletes aged 8 to 16.

The event highlighted the importance of athlete development and teamwork, with parents providing enthusiastic support. Travih Nunayon, Director of Sports, and Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sport Commission, emphasized the significance of this event as a step towards establishing a clear pathway for high-performance swimming in Nigeria.

They noted the need for early talent identification and structured competitions to sustain athlete engagement. Oluseyi Oyebod, CEO of Dynaspro Sport, praised the Lagos State Sport Commission for fulfilling its promise to host the long course event, which is seen as a strategic milestone for swimming in Nigeria.
