NSC DG Honors Young Swimmer Aidan Dumuij with Cash Award

On Wednesday, Hon. Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC), embarked on an appreciation tour to secondary schools to honor Nigeria's rising swimming star, Aidan Dumuij.

Dumuij showcased exceptional talent at the 2025 Africa Zone 2 Swim Championship, where he set five new records and won six gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, earning the title of the tournament's most valuable junior athlete. Olopade's initiative is part of a new strategy by the NSC to recognize and encourage young talent in sports, reflecting the leadership example set by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the visit, Olopade presented Dumuij with a cash award of 3 million naira, while fellow swimmer Abili Tofunmi Ibidapo also received 2 million naira for her remarkable performance. Olopade emphasized the importance of grassroots sports development and the need to inspire millions of young Nigerians through sports.
