Lagos State to File Contempt Charge Against National Assembly for Defying Supreme Court Ruling

Lagos State is set to take legal action against the National Assembly for persisting in passing the Central Game Bill despite a Supreme Court judgment declaring the legislative action unconstitutional. The state's Attorney General, Bode Olanipekun, seeks the court's permission to initiate contempt proceedings against the National Assembly.

Lagos argues that the ongoing work on the bill directly violates the Supreme Court's 2008 judgment. The state contends that the provisions of the bill replicate those nullified by the Supreme Court in 2024 and are in defiance of the court's authority.
