JustUsed Tech Launches Youth Empowerment Sports Initiative

A youth empowerment initiative named Project 9-12 was launched in Lagos, connecting sports with technology and environmental sustainability. Organized by JustUsed Tech in partnership with Passback and supported by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, the project provided technology devices and sports equipment to students from 10 schools, including Wesley Girls’ Senior Secondary School and Lagos City Senior College.

Titilayo Oshodi, the Lagos State Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy, emphasized the importance of combining youth development with technology and sports to foster responsible citizenship. Hazel Iwendi, Head of Operations and Programmes Lead at JustUsed Tech, noted the initiative arose from recognizing limited access to technology and sports equipment among youth.

The program aims to expand beyond the initial 10 schools to other districts and states. Olabisi Shonibare, Director of Partnerships at the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, welcomed the initiative as a necessary innovation to engage youth.
