The Lagos-Toronto route has become Nigeria's busiest long-haul aviation route, experiencing a surge in passenger demand as revealed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Dr.

Samson Fatokun of IATA highlighted the sharp rise in traffic on this route during a panel discussion at the 2025 FAAN Nation Aviation Conference. The growth in traffic on routes like Lagos-Toronto, Lagos-Manchester, and Lagos-New York indicates a rising demand for Nigerian airports and airline services.

Fatokun also emphasized the need for data-driven route development strategies to sustain the aviation sector in Nigeria.
