Rodri Explains Decision to Join Barcelona Over Real Madrid
Barcelona midfielder Rodri, who transferred from Manchester City for £65.4 million after the 2026 World Cup, revealed his reasons for choosing Barcelona over Real Madrid. He was previously linked with a move to Madrid as coach Jose Mourinho aimed to revamp the team's midfield.
In an interview, Rodri acknowledged the financial benefits of signing with Madrid but emphasized that his decision was based on sporting factors. He stated, “Saying no to Real Madrid was not easy, especially since they treated me so well.” Rodri expressed that he prioritized where he could grow and win the most as a player, indicating that his choice was driven by a desire to enhance his game rather than financial incentives.
