Lagos State Distributes Automated Lab Machines to PHCs

The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board began distributing automated laboratory machines to selected primary health care facilities across the state on June 22, 2026. This initiative is part of the Hope PHC project, which is funded by the World Bank to improve diagnostic services and healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, stated that the project aims to enhance laboratory capacity, improve diagnostic accuracy, and reduce turnaround time for test results.

The distribution includes various equipment such as hematology analyzers, semi-automated chemistry analyzers, and Olympus microscopes. The initiative also involves renovating health facilities, deploying modern medical equipment, and recruiting additional healthcare workers.

Measures will be introduced to ensure proper installation, training of laboratory personnel, and routine maintenance to sustain the equipment. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration is committed to strengthening healthcare services through this strategic investment.
