Lagos Launches Digital Health Innovation for Better Care

The Lagos State Government has launched the Lagos Digital Health Innovation, reaffirming its commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through innovative digital solutions. The event took place at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, and included government officials, health-tech innovators, technology experts, development partners, and investors.

Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, described the initiative as a strategic platform for innovators to develop solutions to healthcare challenges.

He praised the innovative applications presented, which target critical healthcare priorities such as emergency care, health insurance, sickle cell disease management, neonatal survival, medication adherence, and post-hospital care. Abayomi highlighted the impact of digital technology on healthcare delivery, referencing Lagos’ successful home-based management of COVID-19 patients.

He noted that the Lagos State Smart Health Information Platform (SHIP) is approximately 30 percent complete in its first phase across public health facilities and will later extend to the private sector, aiming to synchronize health records and enhance healthcare planning while ensuring data protection.
