Lagos Government Celebrates Record Attendance at "Black Market" Premiere

The Lagos State Government has praised the successful establishment of a Guinness World Records title for the largest attendance at a film premiere, with 51,258 attendees at the premiere of the Nigerian crime thriller "Black Market" at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island. The event, held on Saturday, was supported by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and attracted numerous film lovers and industry stakeholders.

Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat congratulated the organizers and attendees, highlighting the event as a testament to Nigeria's creative potential. He called for increased investment in the creative industry, comparing Nollywood's potential to Hollywood.

The record was confirmed by Guinness World Records official adjudicator Mark McKinley, who noted that the previous record was 43,624 attendees in the Philippines in 2015. The premiere featured various entertainment elements and was attended by notable personalities including Omowunmi Dada and Femi Adebayo.
