Last PDP Lawmaker Defects to APC in Gombe State

Yakubu Daniel Shetiman Bare, the last remaining member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Gombe State House of Assembly, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move leaves the PDP without representation in the state legislature, as Bare represented the Billiri East Constituency.

The defection was announced on a Saturday, and Governor Muhammadu Yahaya described it as a significant political development, indicating strong endorsement of his administration and leadership style. Yahaya emphasized that this shift underscores the growing acceptance of the APC across Gombe State, attributing it to the administration's focus on transparency and fair service delivery.

He expressed that the door remains open for others to join the APC to build a better Gombe, highlighting the party's commitment to justice and equal opportunity. With this defection, the APC now holds 24 seats in the state legislature, further consolidating its political structure in Gombe.
