Adamawa Lawmaker Abdullahi Resigns from PDP Amid Crisis

On Tuesday, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly representing Girei, officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He presented his resignation letter during a plenary session, which was read by the Speaker, Mr.

Bathya Weslei. Abdullahi's resignation was attributed to the ongoing crises within the PDP at both state and national levels.

In his letter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities the party provided him to contest elections successfully in 2019 and 2023. Additionally, it was reported that five other members of the assembly are expected to submit their resignation letters.

Furthermore, Adamawa South Senator Bino Yaro also left the PDP, indicating a fracture within the party. Yaro's resignation letter, addressed to the ward chairman of Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, stated his decision was based on the same fracturing issues.

He is anticipated to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and retain his senatorial ticket.
