LASTMA Seizes 84 Vehicles Amid Miscreant Attacks

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) impounded 84 vehicles, both commercial and private, during a weekend enforcement operation across Idumota, Iddo, Ijora-Olopa, Costain, and Onipanu. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, reported that some personnel were assaulted and injured by suspected miscreants resisting the operation.

The enforcement aimed to restore order and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, particularly addressing the dangerous practice of commercial buses reversing against traffic along the one-way stretch from Iddo to Idumota through Cater Bridge. This behavior poses significant risks to other road users.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki described the operation as essential to curbing impunity among road users. He warned against illegal parking and loading practices that obstruct traffic management.

LASTMA cautioned that further infractions would lead to appropriate enforcement actions.
