LASTMA Stops Public from Drinking Beer After Lagos Crash

A truck carrying beer crashed into a dispatch rider and two vehicles at Abalti Barracks, inward Ojuelegba, Lagos, on Tuesday, resulting in spilled bottles of beer on the road. Adebayo Taofeeq, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), explained that the truck driver was speeding and failed to brake in time to avoid a collision with a vehicle ahead.
The crash seriously injured the dispatch rider, who was rescued by LASTMA personnel and taken for medical attention. Upon arrival at the scene, LASTMA officials found members of the public picking up unbroken beer bottles and drinking from them.
LASTMA intervened to stop this activity and clear the scene to prevent further traffic disruption. Despite the intervention, some commuters continued to stop and drink the spilled beer, leading to mixed public reactions.
LASTMA worked with the police to manage the accident scene effectively.
