University of Uyo Appoints Samuel Gbadebo Odewumi as Acting Vice-Chancellor

Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewumi has been appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, as communicated in a letter dated December 15, 2025, signed by the registrar of the institution. The appointment, approved by the University's Visitor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, follows the decision conveyed on behalf of the Chairman of the University's Governing Council, Professor Odewumi's appointment is effective immediately and will remain valid until the substantive Vice-Chancellor appointment process is concluded.

Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji Bello congratulated Odewumi on his elevation, citing his impressive academic track record and administrative capacity, especially in the field of transport planning and policy.
