Mr. Ibu's Family Receives ₦7.5 Million in Donations

The family of late Nollywood comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, received ₦7.5 million in donations after a public appeal highlighted their financial struggles, including unpaid rent and school fees. The fundraising effort was disclosed on Friday by content creator King Mitchi, who shared a video showing Mr. Ibu's widow and children appealing for help.

King Mitchi expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating it has restored hope for the bereaved family during this difficult period. The funds will primarily be used to pay the children's outstanding school fees and settle the family's rent, with part of the money covering the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for Mr. Ibu's eldest daughter, who was reportedly unable to register due to financial hardship.

King Mitchi also advised Mr. Ibu's widow to relocate to a more affordable apartment to ease their financial burden. The late actor passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62, after battling prolonged illness.
