Late-Night Fire Destroys Shops in Kwara State

A fire outbreak occurred at 11:57 PM on Wednesday, destroying three containerized shops at Eyenkorin Roundabout in the Apata area of Asa Local Government Area, Kwara State. The Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call and swiftly mobilized to the scene to prevent further damage.

According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer, Hassan Adekunle, the fire involved six containerized shops, with three affected. Preliminary findings indicated that the blaze was triggered by a power surge that occurred shortly after electrical supply was restored, igniting nearby combustible materials.

Firefighters worked tirelessly and successfully brought the fire under control by 12:20 AM, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby properties. Alabi Muham, the State Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, urged shop owners and residents to prioritize electrical safety in their homes and businesses and to ensure the use of quality electrical materials.

This incident adds to a series of recent fire outbreaks in Kwara, highlighting the need for safety measures.
