Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Announces Ogun 2027 Governorship Bid

Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, a member of the House of Representatives for Imeko Afon Yewa North Federal Constituency, has announced his intention to run for the Ogun State governorship in the 2027 elections, marking his fourth attempt at the position. Isiaka, who chairs the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, expressed confidence in his experience and understanding of Ogun State's political and economic landscape.

He dismissed claims that his candidacy is sponsored by the current governor, Dapo Abiodun, asserting that his decision to run is personal. Isiaka plans to formally declare his candidacy soon and has begun consultations with party stakeholders.

He emphasized the need for a level playing field in the selection process and urged adherence to fairness and transparency. Isiaka has previously contested the governorship in 2011, 2015, and 2019, representing various political parties, including the People's Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress, before winning his current seat in the 2023 general elections.
