Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Announces 2027 Governorship Bid

Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, a member representing Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, has expressed his desire to contest the Ogun State governorship election in 2027. This will be his fourth attempt at the state's top job, having previously run in 2011, 2015, and 2019, where he lost to candidates from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the 2011 election, Isiaka garnered 137,051 votes while Ibikunle Amosun of the ACN received 377,489 votes. In 2015, he again lost to Amosun and in 2019, he contested under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but was defeated by the incumbent Dapo Abiodun of the APC.

Despite his past defeats, Isiaka, who is currently the chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, believes he is qualified for the role and has begun preliminary consultations with stakeholders regarding his candidacy. He aims to focus on building a viable economy in Ogun State and improving residents' quality of life through better healthcare, education, and job creation.
