Ebonyi Lawmaker Offers Scholarships to 930 Students

Onyekachi Nwebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, has urged students to avoid cultism and hard drugs while announcing a scholarship scheme benefiting over 930 students. This initiative, which initially aimed to support 500 students, was expanded due to additional requests.

Nwebonyi emphasized the importance of education and the need for students to focus on their studies instead of engaging in criminal activities. The scholarship program, which disburses 100 million Naira, reflects a commitment to support education and build future leaders.

Nwebonyi also noted that the Ebonyi State Government, led by Governor Francis Nwifuru, sponsors a program for 1,000 graduates to pursue master's and PhD degrees abroad. Felicia Nwamkpuma, the wife of the governor, described the scholarship scheme as a strategic investment in the future of Ebonyi youth, encouraging beneficiaries to maintain discipline and avoid negative influences.
