Ejimakor Updates on Nnamdi Kanu’s Court Appeal Process

Lawyer Ejimakor has given a fresh update regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s case at the Court of Appeal. He stated that Kanu's notice of appeal was filed in February 2026, initiating the formal appeal process.

The appeal record includes the charge sheet and exhibits, with the Federal High Court's registrar responsible for transmitting these to the Court of Appeal. The next steps involve filing a brief of argument, which the defense team expects to submit within 45 days of receiving the appeal record.

The Federal Government will respond with its brief within 30 days, and the defense may submit a reply brief within 14 days if necessary. Ejimakor clarified that the oral argument during the hearing will be limited to the briefs filed, with no new evidence or witness testimonies allowed at this stage.

The Court of Appeal will schedule a hearing with a three-member panel, and a judgment is expected to be delivered within a few months, not exceeding 90 days. Possible outcomes include allowing the appeal, quashing the conviction, dismissing the appeal, or ordering a retrial.
