Lawyer Writes Senate Over Failure to Prosecute Abusers of Late Ochanya

In a letter to the Nigerian Senate, lawyer Inibeh Effiong criticized the Benue State government for not prosecuting Andrew Ogbuja and his son Victor Ogbuja, who were accused of raping and causing the death of 13-year-old Ochanya. The victim, a junior secondary school student, suffered prolonged abuse leading to her tragic death in 2018.

Felicia Ogbuja was convicted by the Federal High Court Makurdi for human trafficking related charges. The judgment highlighted the failure to protect Ochanya and ensure her well-being.

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon's ruling emphasized the need for proper care and justice for the victim.
