Lawyers Challenge Jabi Lake Park Privatization Claims

On April 13, 2026, the Masalaha Law Association, represented by S.U. Garba, issued a formal pre-action notice to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, concerning the alleged privatization of Jabi Lake Park.

The notice highlights concerns over a lack of transparency regarding ongoing developments within the park, which is designated as a public recreational space. The lawyers claim that relevant authorities have failed to disclose critical public records and permits for development without proper legal authorization.

They have requested access to the park's original master plan and other related documents, citing the Freedom of Information Act. The notice warns that if the authorities do not comply within seven days, legal action will be initiated to compel disclosure and potentially halt any unauthorized developments.

The notice has been sent to various stakeholders, including the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council and the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
