Court Halts Demolition on Kampala Street in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Garki has issued an order to halt the planned demolition of properties on Kampala Street, Wuse II, Abuja. This decision comes in response to a court suit filed by six claimants, led by Mr.

Nnennaya M. Okeke, against the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC).

The suit, numbered CV 1022/26, challenges the AMMC's actions regarding the demolition, which was set to proceed despite a court order issued on April 2, 2026, directing the parties to maintain the status quo until the matter is resolved. The claimants argue that the demolition would cause irreparable damage to their properties, which have been developed over three decades.

The court's ruling emphasizes the need for the AMMC to respect the court's directive and refrain from any further demolition actions until the case is fully heard and determined.
