League of Imams Disowns Fundraising Initiative in Yorubaland

The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland has publicly distanced itself from a fundraising initiative and the launch of a new association, asserting that these activities are misleading and do not represent the league. The statement, made available to journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State, was signed by prominent leaders including Sheikh Jamiu Kewuler, Sheikh Saadullah Bamgbola, Sheikh Abdulganii Agbotomokeker, Sheikh Musa Rabiu Animasahun, and others.

The league, established in 1964 by Sheikh Adam Abdullahi Al Ilori, serves as the apex Islamic body in the southwestern region of Nigeria. The league reiterated its commitment to its historical mission of promoting harmony and cooperation among Muslims in Yorubaland.

It condemned any attempts by individuals or groups to misrepresent the league or exploit its name for personal gain, urging the Muslim community and the public to exercise caution regarding unauthorized representations.
