Femi Branch Calls for Children’s Protection in Politics

Nollywood actor Femi Branch made a public appeal urging that innocent children should be left out of political disputes amid reactions to the release of schoolchildren and staff abducted in Oyo State. He lamented the conditions the children faced during their captivity, which lasted nearly two months, and emphasized the trauma they endured.

Branch referenced comments made by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regarding the timing of the children's release, suggesting political undertones. However, he clarified that he was not accusing anyone but urged political parties to prioritize the welfare of the children.

The release of the pupils and staff, who spent 57 days in captivity, brought relief to their families and sparked widespread online reactions. Following their release, the Oyo State government announced that the children would receive medical attention and psychosocial support to aid their recovery from the ordeal.

The incident has renewed calls for improved security measures around schools to protect students from abduction.
