Atiku Warns Against Lecturers Endorsing Tinubu as Officers

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar cautioned that the 600 Northern lecturers who endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 election should not be appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as electoral officers. This statement followed the lecturers' endorsement in Kaduna State.

Atiku, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, emphasized that while academics have the right to support any candidate, those who publicly endorse candidates should not be entrusted with sensitive electoral roles. He expressed concern over the presence of elected governors and a serving Minister of Defence at the endorsement event, describing it as troubling and indicative of the ruling party's desperation.

In defense, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, stated that the endorsement was based on Tinubu's achievements in office over the past three years, supported by data.
