NBA President Advocates for Responsive Legal Profession

During the 2nd Annual Lecture of the Body of Benchers, Mazi Afam Osigwe, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), called for the legal profession to remain responsive to the realities faced by practitioners across Nigeria. He noted that approximately 10,000 lawyers were called to the Nigerian Bar in the past year alone, marking a significant milestone in the profession's growth.

Osigwe raised concerns regarding the uncertain future for newly admitted lawyers and stressed the importance of institutional support within the legal ecosystem to provide guidance and opportunities for these young practitioners. He emphasized that the role of the Body of Benchers does not conclude with the call to the Bar but extends to ensuring the legal profession remains vibrant and responsive to practitioners' realities.

Osigwe acknowledged the significance of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee in maintaining ethical standards and public confidence in the administration of justice.
