NBA President Advocates Legal Ties Between Nigeria, Liberia

Afam Osigwe, the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), called for deeper legal collaboration between Nigeria and Liberia to strengthen the justice system across West Africa. In a statement shared via X on Wednesday, Osigwe delivered a message during the formal opening of the March 2026 term of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

He highlighted the importance of the legal profession in safeguarding constitutional values and promoting institutional integrity. Osigwe commended Liberia's judiciary for its resilience and dedication to strengthening the foundations of constitutional democracy.

He noted the historical ties between Nigeria and Liberia and emphasized the role of the legal community in advancing a shared vision for stability and prosperity in West Africa. Osigwe proposed expanding partnerships and developing capacity through structured training programs and joint conferences.

He also stressed the need for the legal profession to adapt to contemporary issues, including technology's influence on justice delivery, and expressed hope that the upcoming court term would renew commitments to advocacy and strengthen public trust in the justice system.
