Nigerian House of Reps Order Paper: Key Bills, May 6 2026

The House of Representatives convened on 6 May 2026 with a packed agenda spanning petitions, bills, and committee reports.

On petitions, the Committee on Public Petitions, led by Hon. Laori Kwamoti, was set to present six reports. These covered complaints from a dismissed soldier, eight Biwater Nigeria staff over unpaid pensions, a police inspector owed salaries from 2013 to 2018, a former NEPZA employee alleging wrongful disengagement, a family alleging unlawful detention by the Army and National Intelligence Agency, and a former NBC staff member denied monetisation entitlements.

On bills, two were listed for second reading: one to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Monguno, Borno State, and another to create the Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma Federal University of Agriculture in Jalingo, Taraba State.

A motion was tabled to revive the Nigerian Film Commission Bill, 2026, which was passed by the previous Assembly but never received presidential assent.

Four bills were listed for full-chamber consideration, including a bill to reform the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, a road safety administration bill, a basic education amendment bill, and several agricultural institutions bills.
