Six new bills were introduced for first reading on June 10, 2026. These included an amendment to the Electoral Act (HB.2781), sponsored by Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki and six others, as well as amendments to laws governing the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and Civil Aviation Act, both sponsored by Hon. Sada Soli. An amendment to the NDLEA Act and a Sixth Alteration to Nigeria's Constitution were also tabled.
At second reading, lawmakers considered bills to update the Sale of Goods Act to cover e-commerce and digital payments, amend the Price Control Act to specify essential commodities, establish a Chartered Institute of Human Resources, and reform the Armed Forces Pension Act. Two bills designating host communities for a Federal College of Education and a Federal University in Bende, Abia State, reached their final third reading stage.
Two motions were also on the agenda. The first sought to formally define 'cognate legislative experience' — the qualification required to hold principal offices in the House — as completing at least one full four-year term. The second called on the Federal Government to tackle Nigeria's ransom cash economy, citing an estimated ₦2.23 trillion paid in ransoms between 2021 and 2025, and urged stronger financial intelligence coordination to combat kidnapping and money laundering.
