Davido Urges Peaceful Elections in Osun State

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, has called on political actors and residents of Osun State to promote peace ahead of the governorship election. In a post on his X handle, he warned against violence and intimidation, urging candidates to respect voters' decisions.

Davido, who is the nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, expressed support for his uncle's re-election bid, stating, “ACCORD IS THE PARTY! ADEMOLA ADELEKE IS THE CHOICE!” His message comes as political activities intensify in the state, with major candidates ramping up their campaigns.

Davido previously appealed to candidates, including Adeleke and Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, to accept the electorate's verdict. He has taken an active role in the campaign, joining the Accord Party and mobilizing young voters.

Davido raised concerns about the electoral process's credibility, stating he would seek international attention if the election were compromised. Adeleke, who won the 2022 election with the Peoples Democratic Party, has since defected to the Accord Party.
