Nasarawa Governor Sule Advocates Respectful Politics Ahead of Elections

On September 30, 2026, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State addressed the public during the Nasarawa Carnival in Lafia, marking the 30th anniversary of the state's creation. He called on politicians and citizens to engage in politics with respect and without bitterness as the 2027 general elections approach.

Sule acknowledged that while disagreements are natural, they should be handled respectfully, stating, “Power comes only from God Almighty.” He urged the populace to ignore those who seek to sow discord for political gain, emphasizing that political disagreements are not matters of life and death. Furthermore, he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his economic reforms, which he claimed have enabled states to generate their own electricity, increase revenue, and enhance security.

Sule warned that political instability and a lack of peace could deter investors from the state, which is currently attracting investment in solid minerals, including Africa's largest lithium processing plant.
