LG Polls: RSIEC Chairman Tasks Election Observers On Neutrality

Dr. Michael Odey, the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), has urged election observers to maintain neutrality during the upcoming local government elections on August 30, 2025.

He emphasized the importance of observer training in ensuring a credible democratic process, with the presence of observers signifying a commitment to democracy, transparency, and accountability. Odey stressed that observer reports would help build public trust and provide critical feedback for future electoral improvements.

Participants in the election process were advised to avoid partisan conduct and prioritize neutrality. Dr.

Nwanbu Chibuzor, a facilitator at the training, also emphasized the need for professionalism and transparency among observers, urging them to resist favoritism and always provide accurate identification while carrying out their duties. The RSIEC is determined to conduct a credible election that the people of Rivers State can trust and defend.
