RSIEC seeks CSOs collaboration for credible LG elections in Rivers

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Chairman, Michael Odey, has called for collaboration with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure a smooth, free, and fair local government election on August 30, 2025. Odey emphasized the importance of CSOs in voter education, mediation, and monitoring to enhance the success of the upcoming poll.

He highlighted the need for a robust partnership with CSOs to strengthen voter sensitization, election observation, and peaceful participation. Odey also urged CSOs to reach out to residents, especially in rural communities, to ensure a credible election process.

The RSIEC reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive, peaceful, and transparent electoral process. Security arrangements for the poll were also discussed during the meeting.

CSOs assured their commitment to ensuring a credible election and encouraged community engagement to counter misinformation and promote issue-based discussions.
