Mustapha Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Leaving NNPP Behind

Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This announcement was made on Monday via his official Facebook page, where he described the decision as a carefully considered move aimed at advancing good governance and socio-economic progress in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.

His resignation comes less than 24 hours after his father, Rabiu Kwankwaso, also resigned from the NNPP to join the ADC. This development signals a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly as the NNPP has faced internal strife and defections, weakening its structure in Kano State.

The Kwankwasiyya movement, which has been central to the NNPP's identity, is now navigating a new political landscape as members seek viable platforms for the upcoming electoral cycle.
