Lionel Messi in Talks for Shock Galatasaray Move Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Turkish giants Galatasaray are in talks with Lionel Messi for a potential short-term move as the Argentine star seeks to maintain his fitness for the 2026 World Cup. Turkish media reports suggest that Messi is open to a temporary exit from Major League Soccer, with Galatasaray looking to secure a deal for him to play around 12 matches.

However, Messi is cautious about featuring in away fixtures to avoid injury risks. Turkish football analyst Levent Tüzemen confirmed the discussions and highlighted Messi's desire to stay in peak condition for the upcoming global tournament.

Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek had previously rejected the idea of Messi joining the club, but negotiations are now progressing as the transfer window deadline approaches. The move would see Messi reunite with Nigerian forward Osinachi Ohale, who has been in impressive form for Galatasaray.
