LIRS Reaffirms January Deadline for Tax Return Filing in Lagos State

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has reiterated the January 31, 2026 deadline for employers in Lagos State to file their annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year. Dr.

Ayodele Subair, the Chairman of LIRS, emphasized the mandatory nature of filing annual returns to avoid statutory sanctions. Employers are required to provide detailed returns on emoluments paid to employees and ensure the remittance of applicable taxes.

Failure to comply may result in penalties prescribed by the new tax law. The move aims to support revenue tracking and align with Lagos State's fiscal plan.

Employers can file electronically via the LIRS eTax platform.
