Lisabi Festival 2026 to Focus on Vocational Skills for Youth

The 39th Lisabi Festival, organized by the paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, will take place from March 16 to March 29, 2026, in Abeokuta. The festival aims to address the growing trend of youth abandoning hard work and vocational careers, promoting apprenticeship and vocational skills.

The theme for this year's festival reflects the need for integrating apprenticeship training and educational opportunities. Oba Gbadebo highlighted the importance of hard work as a core pillar for sustainable development, urging the youth to embrace vocational training.

The festival will feature various cultural, educational, and sporting activities, including a secondary school quiz, art exhibitions, and a football competition. Notably, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is expected to speak at the event, which will also include a traditional herbal medicine exhibition.

The festival, which honors the 18th-century Egba hero Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, aims to unite the Egba people and celebrate their rich cultural heritage.
