Joseph Effiok, the founder of HoganHost and Chief Executive Officer of ZuumHost, called on Nigerian businesses to patronize competent local digital service providers to strengthen Nigeria's digital economy. In a statement made on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of using the .ng domain extension and Nigerian web hosting companies.

Effiok expressed confidence in businesses that utilize a .ng domain or host their websites with Nigerian companies, stating that he would be less inclined to support businesses that do not. He clarified that his stance is not a criticism of international domain extensions or foreign hosting companies, acknowledging that businesses targeting global markets may have valid reasons for using them.

He urged local technology companies to earn customer trust through quality service rather than relying solely on patriotism. Effiok highlighted that stronger local technology firms could create jobs and attract investment, contributing significantly to the development of Nigeria's digital economy.
