Lookman Targets First Title with Atletico in Copa Final

Lookman is set to compete for his first major title with Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad on February 2026 at Estadio de la Cartuja. Atletico Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone, is targeting its record 11th Copa del Rey title, while Real Sociedad aims for its fourth crown.

Atletico's recent form has been inconsistent, with five defeats in their last six matches, including a 2-1 loss to Sevilla in La Liga, leaving them fourth and 22 points behind leaders Barcelona. Despite this, Atletico has progressed to the final after a semi-final victory over Barcelona, where Lookman played a central role, scoring and assisting in a commanding 4-0 first-leg win.

Lookman joined Atletico from Atalanta in February 2026 and is on the brink of becoming the second Nigerian player to win the Copa del Rey, following Emmanuel Amuneke's triumph with Barcelona in 1997. Real Sociedad does not currently feature a Nigerian player in their squad.
