Abure Warns Usman Against Dissolving Labour Party Executives

Julius Abure, the leader of the Labour Party, issued a warning to Nenadi Usman regarding her attempts to dissolve the party's elected ward and local government executives. In a statement released on Saturday through the party's national public secretary, Obiora Ifoh, Abure emphasized that the caretaker committee headed by Usman does not have the legal authority to dissolve existing party structures.

He referenced a statement from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which clarified that any dissolution of the party's structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would require statutory notice and cannot be executed without proper authorization. Abure's leadership noted that the current court appeal is necessary to address the situation, and he urged party members to ignore misleading claims from Usman's faction.

He expressed hope that the appellate court would resolve the matter favorably, allowing the Labour Party to play an active role in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
