Labour Party Mourns NLC General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja

The Labour Party expressed deep sorrow over the death of Emmanuel Ugboaja, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, on Friday. Ken Asogwa, the party's National Publicity Secretary, described Ugboaja as a dedicated unionist and democrat who significantly contributed to the party's development and Nigeria's democratic processes.

Ugboaja was instrumental in strengthening the relationship between the Labour Party and the organized labor movement, participating in crucial meetings that led to the party's new constitution. He was a member of the National Executive Council that approved the formation of the Party for Social Democracy in 2003, which evolved into the Labour Party in 2004, and served as the party’s Deputy National Secretary and National Secretary of the NLC Political Commission.

Additionally, Ugboaja contributed to the National Constitutional Reform Conferences of 2005 and 2014. The Labour Party extended condolences to the NLC leadership, colleagues, and Ugboaja's family, acknowledging the void his passing has created in the labor movement and the party.
