Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Sparks Rift Ahead of 2027 Elections

A political rift is emerging in Ondo State as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is alleged to be working against the interests of the state's National Assembly members in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Sources indicate that Aiyedatiwa met with President Bola Tinubu to express concerns about lawmakers who have reportedly lost touch with their constituents.

Allegations suggest that the governor is pushing for a "clean slate" by scouting for replacements for the current lawmakers. This tension follows violent incidents during an APC ward congress, which resulted in four deaths and ten injuries.

Despite these claims, party leaders have dismissed the notion that Aiyedatiwa has the authority to endorse or approve candidates for the party's ticket. Lawmakers, including Hon. Donald Ojogo, have publicly denied any knowledge of these developments, labeling the claims as misinformation intended to create division within the party.
