INEC Releases Revised Timetable for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a revised timetable for the 2027 general elections, signed by the INEC Chairman. The new schedule includes significant dates following amendments to the electoral act.

The presidential and National Assembly elections are set for Saturday, January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state house assembly elections will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2027. Party primaries will occur from April 23, 2026, to May 30, 2026.

Campaigns for the presidential elections will commence on August 19, 2026, and for the governorship elections on September 9, 2026, concluding 24 hours before the election days. Additionally, the Osun State governorship election has been rescheduled from August 8, 2026, to August 15, 2026.

INEC confirmed that all activities will strictly adhere to the electoral act of 2026.
