PDP Faction Backed by Makinde to Hold NEC Meeting

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faction supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that it will convene its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on May 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM. This meeting follows a Supreme Court ruling that nullified the outcomes of a national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November, where Tanimu Turaki emerged as the national chairman.

The court's decision rendered the previous convention and its outcomes legally unrecognized. The notice for the NEC meeting indicates that attendance is limited to statutory members, which includes PDP state governors, members of the National Assembly, and other designated stakeholders.

The meeting is being organized in accordance with the provisions of Section 31 of the PDP constitution and is in correspondence with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
