Makinde to Announce Presidential Bid and APM Alliance

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is preparing to formally declare his presidential ambitions and announce an alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) during a rally scheduled for Thursday at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, located in the South East Local Government Area. This event, tagged "Unity Mega Rally," is anticipated to serve as the official launch of Makinde's 2027 presidential bid.

Sources within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) indicate that the rally will include formal presentations of various aspirants contesting for state and national electoral positions. Among those expected to emerge as APM candidates is former Commissioner for Finance Bimbo Adekanmbi for the governorship position, alongside others like Shina Peller for the senatorial seat.

The rally will also mark the signing of an alliance agreement between the APM and a faction of the PDP led by Tanimu Turaki. This development follows Makinde's reaffirmation of loyalty to the PDP in January 2026, despite advocating for a bipartisan approach to governance.
